Nature Lovers
March is when the Dales start waking up. It’s not full-blown spring just yet, but it’s close enough to feel it longer days, brighter mornings, and little signs of new life if you know where to look.
At Eastfield Glamping Farm, March is all about being outdoors a bit more. You can still come back to warmth and comfort, but this is the month where fresh air, muddy boots and slow Sundays really come into their own. We’re tucked away just outside Leyburn, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, perfectly placed for spring days out.
Spring Starts on the Drive In
One of the first signs that winter’s loosening its grip is right at the start of your stay. As you drive up to the farm, the track runs under a canopy of trees lined with daffodils.
If you look closely, you might even spot a rarer variety the Pheasant’s Eye daffodil (Narcissus poeticus) quietly flowering amongst them. It’s a small thing, but it always feels like spring saying hello.
Walks That Feel Different in March
March walks just hit differently. The paths are quieter than summer, the air’s fresh, and everything feels on the brink of change.
A few favourites near us:
Hackfall – Wild woodland, waterfalls and a bit of adventure
Leyburn Shawl – Easy-going paths with big valley views
Aysgarth Falls – Always impressive after winter rain
This is the sort of walking where you take your time, stop often, and don’t mind if your boots get a bit mucky.

Lambs, Farms & Spring Days Out
March also means lambing time round here and it’s a lovely time to visit if you’ve got children with you, or you just enjoy seeing the countryside doing what it does best.
Nearby places worth a visit include:
The Big Sheep Little Cow – Hands-on, friendly and great for meeting animals
Monk Park Farm – A working farm with lamb feeding and plenty to keep little ones busy
They’re ideal for a half-day out before heading back to Eastfield for a quieter evening.
Gardens Coming Back to Life
If you enjoy gardens, March is when things start stirring. Not far from us you’ll find:
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden – Early spring colour and wide open views
Thorpe Perrow Arboretum – Blossoms, birds and beautiful trees
Constable Burton Hall and Gardens
The Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park
They’re all brilliant for a slower-paced day out, especially if the sun makes an appearance.
Sundays Are for Roasts (And We Get Asked This a Lot)
One of the questions we get asked most is: “Where’s good for a Sunday dinner?”
The good news is, you don’t have to go far for a proper Yorkshire roast round here.
A few tried-and-tested favourites near Eastfield Glamping Farm:
The Wyvill Arms – Always popular for Sunday lunch, with generous portions and gravy done right
The Cover Bridge Inn – A lovely setting by the river and a solid roast to match
The Old Horn Inn – Friendly, relaxed and a favourite with locals
The Friars Head – A bit special for Sundays, well worth booking ahead
The Queens Head – A proper country pub serving a cracking roast
Most of these are close enough for an easy drive, and some are walkable if you fancy earning your dinner first. Either way, it’s a great way to round off a weekend and no washing up afterwards.
A Lovely Month for a Reset
March at Eastfield Glamping Farm is about the in-between moments. Fresh air, early spring colour, quiet walks and slow Sundays. It’s not rushed, it’s not busy it’s just a really nice time to be here.
